In the 1980s,China's higher education achieved considerable progress. By the end of 1992,China had 1,075 full time institutions of higher learning with 881,000 graduated and 1,320,000,000 undergraduates. So far, there are 1,700 research institutions of natural sciences run by universities ,220 research institutes and 540 research centers of social sciences,400 key disciplines and 99 national laboratories. It goes without saying that institutions of higher learning have been playing as important role in China's scientific research.
China's universities fall under either the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education ,over ministries of the Central government, provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities or certain major cities. Universities and independent institutes are all institutions of higher learning on the same footing.
In China, a strict entrance examination system has been introduced with a view to ensuring the quality of new entrants to universities. The unified national entrance examination is open to graduates of senior middle schools. Only the best and brightest in terms of all round development of morality, intelligence and physique can have access to higher education.
Relevant academic credentials and a fairly speaking level of Chinese are usually necessary for foreign students to study in universities. Many institutions require students to take entrance examinations. Foreign students can contact Chinese universities through the internet and apply online to study in China. Currently, more than 300 Chinese post-secondary institutions can accommodate foreign students. Tuition fees for Chinese universities are very low, but they vary by school and specialty. They generally range around 2,000 thousand RMB per year to 2000 USD$ per year. China is working hard to raise the international profile of its educational system and the Chinese consider it very important to attract foreign students. To help accomplish this, China continues to improve the studying environment for foreign students. |
As you must be aware, China is growing destination for studying medicine since China Universities is cheap cost wise and highly reputed in technology wise and so the forefront in the field of education and more specifically medicine, besides the mentioned specialization, China has been offering practically all specializations known to mankind.
China has opened its doors for foreigners who wished to come down to China for higher education. Universities in China are becoming highly international. When you study here, you are likely to find yourself meeting students from all over the world. Many countries are represented on the campus and each student makes a unique contribution to the life of the institution, both academically and culturally.
The China Universities, traditionally occupy leading position in the world. Many of the medical Universities find a place in the World Health Organization (WHO)'s "Directory of World Medical Schools".There are around 150 Medical Schools in China in which nearly 45 Medical Colleges in china admit International Students.
